Step in September Challenge

Dedicating as little as 30 minutes each day to taking a walk and increasing your steps can have a big impact on your health. Benefits include increased cardiovascular fitness, strengthened bones, reduced excess body fat, boosted muscle power, and longer endurance. We challenge you for the month of September to team up with your colleagues and get moving!

When: September 1- September 30 (Sign up by September 7)

What: Track your steps each day

How to Participate:

  • Sign-up here (Closed)

  • Using the activity tracker (provided after sign-up), indicate each day you count steps. Count steps for at least 15 days to earn 15 points for the challenge.

  • Count steps: Use your smart phone, wristband, smart watch, etc to track your steps each day.

  • Send your activity tracker to wellness@BluMineHealth.com by the end of September (October 3 deadline). 

OPTIONAL - Team Competition:

  • Create a walking team of 3 individuals

  • Register your team: Come up with a fun team name and select a team captain to report cumulative steps each week.

  • Using the Google Doc (link provided after sign up), input the number of cumulative team steps every week and compete with other teams on campus!

  • Stay on track: Make sure you report your daily steps to your team captain so you can track progress!

Tips:

  • Go for a daily walk

  • Join Employee Wellness for Walkabout Wednesdays (weather permitting, we will meet every Wednesday at noon at the Daniel Boone Statue to walk)

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator

  • Use the restroom on a different floor

  • Skip the drive-thru and go inside

  • Choose a parking spot far from the door

  • Set an alarm or reminder to take walks thoughout the day
