Feature a Farmer: EKU Horticulture Program
John Duvall works alongside students Olivia Matthews (not pictured), Skylar Campbell, and Gracie Haze (not pictured) representing the EKU Horticulture Program and Red Barn Garden. This is Duvall’s 5th year participating in the Madison County Farmers Market. The program first started with a focus on landscaping, greenhouse, and turf grass. Eventually the program evolved into the addition of the Red Barn Garden, with a focus on fresh fruits and vegetables. The program joined the Farmers Market in 2016, and provides a great opportunity for Horticulture students to get hands-on experience and meet the community! You can find a wide variety of products throughout the year such as mums, poinsettias, ferns, herbs, natural loofahs, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Fresh produce include blueberries, peaches, eggplant, bell peppers, zucchini, squash, and green beans.
