Wear Red Day

Brandie Fawbush and Carsen Bryant

The first Friday in February is National Wear Red Day. Employees across the University wear red to raise awareness for heart disease and stroke, two of the leading causes of death for women.

In 2021, individuals and groups of employees took photos wearing red (socially-distanced and/or Zoom photos were encouraged!) and submitted to enter the #HealthyEKU Wear Red Photo Contest. Photos were judged by the Wellness interns.

Participants submitted photos in a number of ways:

The Nation Goes Red in February

On the first Friday of every February, which is designated as American Heart Month, the nation comes together, igniting a wave of red from coast to coast. From landmarks to news anchors and neighborhoods to online communities; this annual groundswell unites millions of people for a common goal: the eradication of heart disease and stroke.
